Karen received her Masters of Science in Communication Disorders in 1980 from Fort Hays State University. She moved to the Omaha, Nebraska area to work in the Papillion-La Vista School District. She has stayed in the district her entire career. Karen has had a strong interest in personal computing since the mid-eighties and has always been interested in the internet and the possibilities for information sharing. She was technology leader in her building for many years. Four years ago, Karen became interested in Dyslexia. She is a certified Dyslexia Diagnostician, receiving her training from Susan Barton and the University of San Diego. She currently evaluates and tutors children with Dyslexia. Karen has made presentations at the Nebraska Educators of Technology Association and the International Reading Association. She and a co-worker, Carol Healy, participated in 2008 Nebraska Speech Language and Hearing Association state conference by presenting at the student share fair and sharing at a poster session. Karen is a member of the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA), the Nebraska Speech Language Hearing Association (NSLHA), the International Dyslexia Association (IRA), the Nebraska chapter of IDA, the International Reading Association (IRA), and Phi Delta Kappa. She currently holds a Nebraska State License.
